INNOVSCAPE

As a BMS (Battery Management System) and energy storage brand, Innovscape needed to stand out from all the emerging players in the electric power segment. This project presents our process of designing a complete brand, right from the ethos to its usage scenarios. Let’s go!

ETHOS

The ethos design for Innovscape took right off after our research about the brand. We focussed on the aspects that defined the personality of Innovscape such as resilience, future-ready, bold, honest and result-oriented. Taking cues from our analysis, we created a cohesive ethos comprising of the brand vision, mission, core values, brand persona, user persona, voice and tone and the USP that all come together to create a compelling brand story.

VISUAL IDENTITY

The next step was to translate the brand ethos into an engaging visual identity. The final logo and patterns were arrived upon after multiple rounds of ideations and testing in different contexts. Here we talk about our thoughts behind the visual brand identity of Innovscape.

IDENTITY

This dynamic and energetic logo stands for speed, efficiency and forward thinking, all characteristics that we would like the brand to be associated with. Using a combination of circles at different scales, this logo focuses on the brand’s mission to make the planet more sustainable and circular. Depending on the scale at which you view it, the pictogram can elicit different meanings. From a zoomed out perspective, It looks like a circle. This stands for Innovscape’s brand values of creating a circular ecosystem of energy. Zoomed in, It is a circle that is made up of more circles. This is a metaphor for a large energy system made up of smaller elements, that all work together to form an efficient grid. The circle also represents the Earth, and the small dots show how Innovscape is lighting up each point on the planet.

COLOUR

The colours chosen as part of Innovscape’s brand palette signify the various aspects of electric energy. The deep red shows darkness, in which the voltaic orange and energetic blue add contrast and light. The neutral metal grey subdues the energy that the rest of the palette exuberates.

INNOVSCAPE'S BMS

The BMS board of Innovscape is printed in Brand color ‘Earth Red’, while keeping all the elements on the board in Metal grey and black colors. This ensures that Innovscape has a unique brand outside as well as inside. Here, the logo fits really well in the circuit environment of metal contacts and lines.

ICONOGRAPHY

We use icons to add visual differentiation in text-heavy pieces such as 2-pagers, web pages, and tool-kits. These icons were designed to be friendly and understanding, complimenting the rest of the content. The line weight was maintained throughout, along with the visual weight to create a uniform icon set for the brand.

IMAGERY/ TREATMENT

The image treatment for Innovscape varies based on the purpose of the image. Consequently, a portrait is given a treatment of neutrality and drama, a poster makes us of halftone effects, while a product showcase used the logo in the metal grey, hidden behind the product.

ILLUSTRATIVE ELEMENTS

The illustrative elements of Innovscape follow the language of the logo. Each element is made of multiple dots, put together to form a particular shape. These illustrative elements also expand to larger shapes we might want to visualize on specific media, such as portraying a world map on a brand collateral.`

FONT SYSTEM

Innovscape uses a combination of Archivo and Noto Sans as its brand font system. These fonts not only complement each other and go well together, but also aptly represent the characteristics that the brand wants to be associated with - stability, resolution and confidence.

After creating a strong foundation of the brand culture, we hopped onto the visual side of things. Numerous ideations and iterations later, we found a style that was unanimously liked and selected. The logo, colour palette and other graphic elements all have their roots from the ethos, and together create a cohesive visual identifier for Nexstem.
